This is my first ever blog.. Readers...please do not feel hesitant to comment and enlighten me with ur feedback...!!! And excuse me ...for THIS (whatever I write) is purely my perception.. It may not be right always...!!!
Here I begin.. On my train journeys, I usually prefer reading a book.. rather than talk to strangers.. Unless the stranger is an intelligent charmer..!! Yeah so while I travel I pick up random books to read... anything that is available at the station book store.. anything that someone has recommended ... or any book that has been a little famous or has been a best-seller.. Basically JUST ABOUT ANYTHING..
On one such journey I once picked up a random book by Aravind Adiga.. Called "Between the Assassinations".. Not the best-est book.. But it had stuff!!! I mean it gave your mind something to think!!! Food for thought types...!! I was not like head over heels in love with the writing but sure was super impressed as the author was jus one book old.. Good I say..!!
On another journey i read a book by Tuhin Sinha.. "That thing called LOVE"... That book was fresh.. out of the box.. it spoke well about the problems and consequences of a relationship that was not the socially accepted types.. and the subject was handled soooo well and in a mature way.. i thought ...yess..... Indian authirs are almostt there.,..!!!
Chetan bhagat started the trend i'd say.. Five Point Someone was a fabulous book... Awesome..!! A sooooper goood book with awesome real-life feeling to it.. It was a trend-setter without a second thought.. But just when you think the author is the next big thing ..he can surprise you with a crass ONE NIGHT AT A CALL CENTER!! I mean like what were you even thinking Mr bhagat...?? People do not find real people to talk to today n the guys in the book met GOD???? Arrrggghhh!!!
I felt this man is over and out.. One book star.. Not the "lambi race ka ghoda..." and I thought I'd never hear of him again.. But no i was wrong.. He came up with another one... And another.. And another.. !!! In the meantime some nutcase movie-wallahs thought it the in-thing to churn money out of turning book-stories into masla Bolly flicks.. Cooll!!! Smart marketing I'd say!!!
But book after book is being written in one end.. and another set of buggers are just making a Bolly movie out of every other bhagat book... Mannnnnn.. get a life dudes!!!This stupid strategy of your minds has stolen a star in the making from us readers!!! Now Mr bhagat has losssst it completely.. His charm as a writer .. where..just where has it gone!!!
Talk of 2 States, Three mnistakes of my Life.. Revolution 2020.. whattt are wt reading.. what is he writing...!! Gosh.. book gives a man the freedom of writing his thought and pouring his heart out and bringing life to non-existent characters..!! But when one starts writing stuff where the ends have to be happy-happy.. just because it will make for a good BollyWood movie..that is the major turn-off.!!! Practically impossoible stuff.. Immature, amatuer, very Bolly...!!!
Now every student who passed out of a populatr or not-so-popular B-school with a good garduation or PG degree,, jus wants to write a book on his expereineces.. There was this UK chic..Kritika something.. who falls in love, and kisses..and .. some weird book title.. She was the Lady Chetan Bhagat there,,, Bolly movie type book.. then there is this Orange Hangover author Mr Rahul Saini...!!!
Guys ... MERCY!!! Pity us!! Puhleez.. we are the people who you write for.. we want fresh ...new..practically believable stories.. we have stopped caring for happy endings..cuz we have realized life is not all about happy endings at all... Cuz there is a new beginning each day in our own lives.. This generation is bolder and braver in accepting and coming to terms with truths..!!Then why write crass stories..
This book Orange hangover started on such a high note..There was a break up mail shared between a girl and her boy-friend on the first page.. So I thought wow.. there is some sane stuff in here.. Its not a regular love story with loads of bedroom details..thankfully...!@@ I already started recommendng it to ma frenz.. Half way through there were struggles in protagonist's life too.. Realistic I felt.. And just when the climax starts to nudge.. THERE!!! Bang!! Our Beloved Bolly Movie begins..!!! All of a sudden the the guy who had been dying to get his girl back grows up mature .. all of a sudden there's this old school teacher to whom he speaks after 15-ish years, and who still arranges for a classroom just so that he can fulfill his dream... there is this huuuuge bungalow of the teacher which she hands over to the guy so that a school can be opened tehre.. Ohhhhh!!! Annoying!!! Who does all this today??
So all the latest Bhagat books plus the hangover whatver book plus the girl who fell in love and kissed and something book.... put together are nothing but a bunch of same feather birds... And they wil all end up in the same way.. A BOLLYWOOD MOVIE out of thm..
So Indian authors.. my question still remains unanswered.. WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD AUTHORS GONE?? Do not take this as a hate-mail.. Its jus that you are using your right to opinion by writing nonsense novels.. And I m using MY right to opinion by giving you feedback..!!! I hope to get my hands on somthing good soon!! God bless INDIAN AUTHORS!!!
Strike one indian authors...2 more strikes and your out
ReplyDeleteGood one Nishhhhh
Deletebhagat should become a bhagat and stop writing books
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Blogger,
ReplyDeleteYou have rightly pointed out the fact that the Indian Authors like Bhagat and Co. are very much inspired by the Bollywood. But if you look carefully who is not in India? Anything Larger than life is inspired by the hindi film industry, and even the public are so much in love with this panoramic virtual life that they consider that if it is not a happy ending, the END is yet to come.
I have one recommendation, STOP reading these authors who are in this Bhagat Gharana, and move to international authors or even Indian Crossovers like Aravind Adiga, Jhumpa Lahiri, Roshan Seth et al. Happy Reading.
